HOW ONE FAMILY GOT ITS START IN INVESTING INTERGENERATIONALLY
It all started with an ad.
Denis Cole, grandfather and retired City Manager for the City of Calgary, noticed the ad for LEAGUE Financial Partners in his local paper and decided to call to find out more. That was two years ago and he hasn’t looked back since.
“The service I get is excellent,” says the 90-year old. “ I like the IPUnits; I bought some last December before the rates went down. I even bought some for my two grandsons.”
Mr. Cole’s daughter, who was intrigued by her father’s example, has also since become a Member-Partner in LEAGUE. “I told her about LEAGUE and she wanted in.”
Like other like-minded Member-Partners, Mr. Cole stuck through the tumultuous winter of 2008-2009 when the IGW REIT experienced its first decline in unit price (a decline of 9%, compared to the decline of the public REIT index of 45% for the same period), but watched as the performance of the REIT improved into 2010. He remains positive. “The performance of the REIT was disappointing, but it was a bad year for everyone. I’m hopeful that it will all go up.”
