LEAGUE GETS INTO THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Dear Member-Partners and Friends,

It’s especially during the holidays that we at LEAGUE look for additional ways to lift the spirits of those around us who are less fortunate.

And in the spirit of Our Credo, which states that we will do for others what we would have them do for us, I am delighted to report, that many of LEAGUE’s staff have fulfilled that first tenet on a very personal level.

Beyond their own many individual charitable efforts, LEAGUE staff organized a clothing drive for the homeless for Our Place, a local shelter and the local St. Vincent de Paul Society. A wide range of clothing, including shirts, pants, sweaters and coats were collected and donated by those participating in this drive.

Additionally, LEAGUE staff also ran a toy drive. As a result of their individual efforts a large box of new unwrapped toys, and a good selection of gift cards for older children who sometimes don’t get their needs met by holiday toy drives, was delivered to the local Salvation Army.

At the same time, the LEAGUE foundation spent the last of it’s annual budget by donating $500 on behalf of its Member-Partners and staff to the Cowichan Tribes’ Christmas Food Hamper Program, in Duncan, BC. For over 20 years the program has helped supply food and gifts to families in need.

Adam and I are deeply proud of our staff and the initiative they showed in starting these drives and making them successful. It’s this kind of community involvement that brings out the best in people, and it represents the spirit that every one of us here at LEAGUE with the communities we touch on behalf of our Member-Partners. We thank you for this opportunity to represent you in this way.

On behalf of everyone here at LEAGUE, we wish you best wishes for this holiday season!

Warmly and Sincerely,

Emanuel F. Arruda
